Corporal 'Jock' Kerr, 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, on guard at a water filtration plant near Suez, 25 December 1951
Photograph, Egypt, 1951.
The 3rd Battalion arrived in the Canal Zone in late 1951 as the security of the British installations there deteriorated. Egyptian guerillas established themselves in the towns along the length of the Canal Zone and attacks on vehicles, property, and service personnel increased.
From collection of 27 photographs collected by Pte David Hunt, 3rd Bn Parachute Regiment, whilst serving in Egypt during the civil unrest, 1951-1952.
