Donald Friell McLeod (1810-1872) served as Governor of the Punjab from 1865 until 1870. His tenure was marked by the development of roads, railways and canals in the province. The Punjab had been annexed by the East India Company in 1849 after the 2nd Anglo-Sikh War (1848-1849).
