Colonel A M Paterson, commanding 1st Bedfordshire Regiment, 1894 (c)

The 1st Battalion were stationed at Kuldana hill station near Rawalpindi between 1889 and 1897 when it moved on to Umballa. In 1895 Paterson led his battalion during the storming of the Malakand Pass during the 1895 Chitral Relief Expedition.
From an album containing 73 photographs collected by Captain (later Honorary Major) Charles James Fox of the Bedfordshire Regiment, 1886-1894 (c).
