Khaki hand-knitted inner woollen mittens, 1950 (c)

These mittens were worn during the Korean War (1950-1953) by Lieutenant (later Colonel) Leslie Sharpe of 1st Battalion, The Middlesex Regiment, under his gloves in the winter of 1950-51. They were donated to the battalion by the local authorities and citizens of Middlesex along with scarves, balaclavas and other comforts.
