Identity tag belonging to Major William Gordon Stewart, Singapore Royal Engineers, when held as a prisoner of war in Japan, 1944-1945

Major Stewart worked for the Public Works Department (Colonial Service) and was taken prisoner at Singapore in 1942 and held in various camps. This bamboo and lace ID tag dates from August 1944-June 1945 while he was held in Zentsuji War Prison Camp, Japan. The tag is inscribed with his number while held in this camp '711'.
