Muzzle loading 7-pounder gun of the 5th (Bombay) Mountain Battery, North West Frontier, 1933 (c)
Photograph, India, 1933 (c).
In the rough country of the Indian frontiers, where the terrain was steep and roads few and far between, there was still room during the 1930s for light artillery that could be carried on mules. The latter could cover ground impassable to mechanised or horse-drawn guns.
One of 62 copy photographs collected by Major E W Goodman, Commanding Officer of the 5th (Bombay) Mountain Battery, 1933-1939.
