John Campbell, Duke of Argyll and Greenwich, 1743

Argyll (1680-1743) commanded the British Government's troops during the Jacobite Rising of 1715, including the Battle of Sheriffmuir in November and the capture of Perth the following month. He had earlier fought in the final months of the Nine Years War (1688-1697) and in the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714).
