Pace stick used by Regimental Sergeant M W A Cummings, 1st Battalion The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), Hong Kong, 1948
A pace stick is carried by senior warrant officers and non-commissioned officers to help them teach drill and marching to recruits. It is also a symbol of their status. The Pace stick consists of two pieces of wood, hinged at the top and able to be set to a particular distance.
