Cap badge belonging to Acting Corporal William Cotter VC, 6th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment), 1916 (c)
This badge was presented by Cotter to his friend Corporal F W Parker MM and Bar, who helped carry him from the trench where he was fatally wounded winning a posthumous Victoria Cross (VC) near the Holenzollen Redoubt on 6 March 1916. Cotter died of his wounds eight days later while in hospital at Lillers.
