Leather holster for Lancaster .455 in four-barrelled breechloading howdah pistol, 1890 (c)
Howdah pistols were large-calibre handguns used by British officers in India in the 19th century when out hunting or exploring. The gun could stop dangerous animals like tigers and buffalo at close range.
