Regimental Gold Medal awarded to Lieutenant Matthew Latham, 3rd (The East Kent) Regiment of Foot (The Buffs), 1811

Inscribed, 'Albuhera 16 May 1811', 'I will surrender it only with my life', on reverse, 'To Lieut. Latham 3rd Foot (or the Buffs) as a testimonial from his Brother officers of their high opinion of his distinguished conduct in defending the colours of the Regt. in the Battle of Albuhera in which he lost an Arm and part of his Face.'
