Known as 'The Black Bull', 11th Armoured Division was formed in Yorkshire in March 1941 under the command of Major-General Percy Hobart, an innovative and forward-thinking theorist of armoured warfare. Hobart selected the 'Charging Bull' emblem of the division which landed in Normandy in June 1944 and then fought its way across France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
