Formation badge, Headquarters Southern Command (UK), 1940 (c)
Printed cotton badge, one of a pair, World War Two (1939-1945), 1940 (c).
Southern Command used a standard shield design with stars, with variations in the colour and band, to indicate which branch of service it represented - artillery, engineers, medical etc. The five stars represent a Southern Cross. This has a single black bar which denotes it is a headquarters badge.
