From an album of photographs relating to Lieutenant William Charles Carter who served in 28th Battalion, London Regiment (Artists Rifles) and 13 Squadron Royal Flying Corps during World War One.
The Royal Aircraft Factory RE8 was a British two-seat biplane that was introduced in 1916. Ineffective as a combat aircraft the RE8 was used primarily as a reconnaissance aircraft and served in Europe and the Middle East.
