Running medal, Private L E Dale, 1st Battalion, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), 1927
One of five athletics medals awarded to Private Lesley Elgar Dale, 1st Battalion, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), 1927-1928.
Circular bronze medal with, on the obverse, The Buffs dragon insignia and motto, surrounded by laurel wreath with battle honours. On the reverse, the recipient's name, unit, 'A Coy', event, '1 Mile', and year, '1927', engraved within a similar laurel wreath.
The 1st Battalion during this time was stationed at Barbilly and Ranikhet in Northern India. Private Dale helped 'A' Company win the inter-company team cross-country and 3 mile races in 1927 and 1928.
