Drill anti-personnel mine, practice, C3, 1970

Mines kill and maim civilians as well as soldiers, often long after a conflict is over. The 1997 Ottawa Treaty banned their use, but not all countries signed it. The British Army stopped using anti-personnel mines in 1999 in line with the Ottawa Treaty.
