Letter to Ensign Colin Campbell (later Lieutenant-General), 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, from his father, 8 October 1772
John Campbell was First Cashier of the Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh. His letter relates to Colin Campbell's (1754-1814) prospective lieutenancy with the 55th Regiment of Foot in Ireland and the disposal of his ensign post with the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment.
