Morse signalling playing cards for Boy Scouts, 1918 (c)
Boy scouts played an important role on the Home Front during World War One (1914-1918). They helped with farm work, carried War Office messages, watched stretches of coastline and scanned the skies for enemy zeppelin and aircraft. These morse code signalling cards taught valuable skills to young men who wished to prepare for military service. They would have also helped relieve periods of boredom.
