Wireless set, No 31 (Mk I/I), 1948

This set was used by 15 Squadron Royal Signals and designed as a short range manpack set. It consists of a single unit with attached aerial and could be mounted on a general purpose carrier frame.

Designed at the end of World War Two (1939-1945) as a short range infantry set with a range of between three and five miles, the No 31 Set was essentially a copy of existing American equipment. Tropicalised and waterproof the set was used throughout the early 1950s.
