Wireless set, No 62 Mk II, 1950 (c)
Used as a general purpose low power transceiver, it was intended as a vehicle station but could also be transported by animal or manpack. Modified from the Mk I set, the No. 62 Mk II was introduced to withstand dropping by parachute, and to incorporate electrical circuit and harness modification. The carrying harness is missing from this example. It had a range of between 15 and 25 miles. Initially used in 1944 by airborne units, it continued in use until replaced by the Australian A510 unit. As it was tropicalised it was used in Malaya primarily as a ground station.
