Khaki cotton cloth cap, 1944
Manufactured by J Collett Limited, dated 1944.
Introduced as part of a whole range of cold weather and arctic clothing during World War Two (1939-1945), this cap was designed to provide all weather cover for the head, ears and cheeks. In warmer weather the earflaps could be turned up inside the lining. The underside of the peak was faced with black material to provide additional protection against snow glare.
