General Service Medal 1918-62 with clasp, Arabian Peninsula, awarded to Private John Coddington, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment)
John Coddington was employed as a gas fitter's apprentice when he was called up for National Service in August 1957. After six months training in Canterbury and Dover he embarked at Southampton on the 'Nevasa' for Aden where he served with The Buffs at Dhala, on the Yemen border, as a Bren gunner. Returning to England in early 1959 he was posted to Dortmund in Germany where he was demobbed in August on completion of two years National Service.
