A piece of stained glass window commemorating the Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC) from Guildford Cathedral, 1970 (c)

Glass pane with leading from Guildford Cathedral, 1957 (c); painted by Moira Forsyth, 1970 (c).

Guildford has been associated with the WRAC since the first camp for the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) was established in 1941. This then became a WRAC depot on the disbandment of the ATS in 1949. The depot closed on the disbandment of the WRAC in 1992, but Guildford has remained the spiritual home of the WRAC ever since. The WRAC was awarded the Freedom of Guildford on 22 June 1988.

This version of the window was removed from Guildford Cathedral sometime between 1990 and 1995 when some of the panes were broken. A new design is now in its place.
