Decorated German 75 mm shell case used by the Turkish Army', 1918 (c)

This brass shell case, originally manufactured in Karlsruhe in June 1916, was decorated by Alfred William Fenton with the regimental insignia of The Green Howards (Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) while he was serving in Palestine during World War One (1914-1918). Soldiers often made pieces of 'trench art' to relax when not on duty.
