Sheet music written by Stetchworth Ashley with music by Tom Gray, dedicated to the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment).

The chorus reads,

'He's just a simple soldierWith a number to his nameHe's out to fight for all that's rightAnd dear Old England's fame.He wants to do his duty,Break the Kaiser's iron rod,He'll strike with nerve to proudly serve,His Country, King and God.'
