Made by William Britain Limited, London, Set 9705, 1960s.
Green field gun with black rubber wheels, with original card box and insert.
The 25 Pounder field gun, the 'Gunners' Favourite' was first introduced in 1938 mounted on obsolete 18 Pounder carriages. The perfected gun was placed in service in February 1940 and was produced in large numbers throughout World War Two (1939-1945). The gun was very versatile, firing out to 12,250 metres at maximum range or it could be used as an anti-tank weapon using its unique traversing platform to move rapidly through 360 degrees of arc. It remained in service with the British Army until 1967.
