Model soldier, Cameron Highlanders, 1930 (c)-1939 (c)

Manufactured by William Britain Limited, London, British Soldiers series, Box Set No 89, 1930 (c)-1939 (c).

Officer in helmet, red tunic and kilt, standing, holding binoculars. One of an incomplete unboxed set. The figure has moveable arms.

The uniform depicted represents that worn by the Cameron Highlanders during the Egyptian War (1882) and the 1st Sudan War (1883-1885), prior to the adoption of khaki.

William Britain began producing toy soldiers and military miniatures in 1893 and soon gained a reputation for making the most finely detailed and historically accurate figures available. The company continue to manufacture them today.
