Highlander in helmet, red tunic and kilt, firing rifle from a prone position. One of an incomplete unboxed set.
The uniform depicted represents that worn by the Cameron Highlanders during the Egyptian War (1882) and the 1st Sudan War (1883-1885), prior to the adoption of khaki.
William Britain began producing toy soldiers and military miniatures in 1893 and soon gained a reputation for making the most finely detailed and historically accurate figures available. The company continue to manufacture them today.
