Hardy wore this jacket during Operation Telic, the British Army's deployment to Iraq (2003-2011). Soldiers wore this pattern of uniform (known as No. 5 Desert combat dress) in both the Gulf War of 1990-1991 and the more recent Iraq conflict. It was replaced in 2010 by Multi-Terrain Pattern uniform.
