'30th Regiment of foot', 1742 (c)
Engraving from 'A Representation of the Clothing of His Majesty's Houshold [sic] and of all the Forces upon the Establishments of Great Britain', a volume of 104 coloured engravings, published 1742 (c).
During the 18th century, British soldiers' red coats were lined with contrasting colours and turned out to provide distinctive regimental facings (lapels, cuffs and collars). The 30th Regiment, depicted here, had pale yellow facings.
