Part of 16th Brigade, 6th Division, the 1st Battalion landed at St Nazaire on 10 September 1914 and proceeded to the Western Front where it arrived in time to reinforce the hard-pressed troops on the Aisne, before the whole army was moved north into Flanders.
From an album of 93 photographs associated with Captain Maurice Asprey, 1st Battalion, the Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and his brother Captain Philip Asprey, MC, whilst serving with 2nd Battalion, the Buffs (East Kent Regiment).
