A picnic in Brockwell Park, 1890s (c)

This photograph depicts the family of Douglas Hamlin McKie (far left) who joined the Artists Rifles in 1915 before being commissioned into the Northumberland Fusiliers as a second lieutenant. McKie died of wounds sustained during the Battle of Arras on 11 April 1917, at the age of 24. He was buried in the military cemetery at Roclincourt.

From a leather bound scrapbook containing letters and photographs relating to the life of Second Lieutenant Douglas Hamlin McKie, Artists Rifles and Northumberland Fusiliers.
