Typescript copy of Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Temple's letter of condolence to the McKie family, 20 April 1917

Second Lieutenant Douglas McKie was killed during the Battle of Arras (1917) while serving with the 27th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Douglas's sister Kate typed up this transcript of Temple's letter about her brother. Both the original and this transcript are in the NAM's Collection. Temple's writing is quite difficult to read, so this transcript may have helped other family members to understand what had happened to Douglas.

From a bound scrapbook containing letters and photographs relating to the life of Douglas Hamlin McKie, Artists' Rifles and Northumberland Fusiliers.
