Members of 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, 'D' Squadron Household Cavalry Regiment and other elements of 16 Air Assault Brigade carried out a counter-insurgency operation in the Taliban strong hold town of Now Zad, Afghanistan, on 30-31 July 2006. Although the town was secured, fighting continued to rage in the area until 2009.
