The soldiers are named as Private S Clarke of Morley, Leeds, and Private H Leech of Prescott Street, Liverpool. British and Canadian tanks and infantry captured the outskirts of Troarn on 22 July. The town witnessed some of the bloodiest fighting during the operations to take Caen.
