Troops receiving the King's and Queen's Christmas cards, 1914

As well as cards, soldiers in France and Belgium also received Princess Mary boxes from the Royal Family. These were metal cases filled with chocolates, sweets, cigarettes and tobacco. Great efforts were made to distribute the gifts in time for Christmas.
