A Gazelle reconnaissance helicopter of 654 Squadron, 4 Regiment, Army Air Corps, operating out of Al Amarah in southern Iraq. First introduced into British Army service in the mid 1970s the Gazelle saw service in Germany, Northern Ireland, the Falklands, Afghanistan and Iraq. In Iraq and Afghanistan the performance of helicopters, even with modifications, was affected detrimentally by intense heat and dusty conditions.
