Chalmuchie used by Second-Lieutenant Jack Selwyn Jenkins, 58th Vaughan's Rifles (Frontier Force), 1921 (c)
This leather chalmuchie (Hindu) was used by Jenkins as a food cover during his service in Waziristan on the North West Frontier. Jenkins won the Military Cross defending a convoy near Rogha Khot on 17 March 1921 in British operations against the Wazir and Mahsud tribesmen who had risen up en masse after the 3rd Afghan War (1919).
