'Britain's Strong Arm and Yours Will Carry Us Through. Enlist Now.'
Published by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee. Poster No. 28. Printed by Clerkenwell Press.
Propaganda posters helped persuade men to enlist. As in the rest of Europe, the outbreak of the First World War (1914-1918) was greeted with popular acclaim in Britain. Around 30,000 men were enlisting every day by the end of August 1914.
