An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operator detonates a device, 2010 (c)

A No 2 operator destroys a main charge in situ. EOD teams are made up of four members: the operator, his No 2, the 'bleep' (the Electronic Counter Measures operator or ECM), and an infantry escort. If main charges are destroyed in situ, a 15 grams sample of explosive is removed for testing and forensics.
