'Army Education Scheme will prepare you for your return to civil life', 1944

Colour lithograph information poster for the Army Education Scheme, designed by Abram Games (1914-1996), printed by Field Sons and Company Limited, Bradford, for HM Stationery Office, 1944.

The subject of this demobilisation poster is 'Home Health' and 'Arts and Crafts'. Games has included a stylised depiction of a question mark (representing a soldier), wearing a suit with its arms and legs flung outwards. It stands before a line of objects representing various trades and professions; including building tools, kitchen utensils, a sewing machine and an artists' pallet. The Army Education Scheme helped prepare men for civilian life by training them and offering careers guidance.

From a collection of 45 posters from World War Two (1939-1945).
