'His Rifle Will Fire Will Mine? Care of Arms is Care of Life', 1943 (c)

Colour lithograph information poster, after Abram Games (1914-1996), printed by Fosh and Cross Ltd., for HM Stationery Office, 1943 (c).

In this poster Games has depicted a German soldier aiming his rifle directly at the viewer. In the foreground is a rifle, seen from the side, held by an unseen British soldier. A question mark over the trigger makes it clear that looking after one's rifle is a matter of life or death.

From a collection of 45 posters from World War Two (1939-1945).
