'Take a Pride in being Fighting Fit', 1942
Lithograph designed by Abram Games, printed for HMSO by J Weiner Limited, 1942.
This information poster was designed after Abram Games on behalf of the British Army to encourage physical fitness amongst soldiers. Games was promoted to captain in 1942 with the title Official War Poster Artist and during the next four years produced around a hundred propaganda and information posters.
Games was concerned for the health and welfare of soldiers. He stressed the importance of poster propaganda in educating people, 'This education, so essential for the well-being of the population in civil life, becomes absolutely vital in the case of the Army, depending as it does on the perfect physical condition and mental welfare of the men.'
From a collection of 45 posters from World War Two (1939-1945).
