'Salute the Soldier Save More Lend More', 1944
Lithograph poster designed by Abram Games (1914-1996), printed by Alf Cooke Limited, 1944.
This poster was designed by Abram Games on behalf of the National Savings Committee (NSC), a government body that encouraged people to save money that could then be used by the state to fund budget deficits and finance the war effort.
As well as issuing posters and pamphlets, the NSC organised Local Saving Weeks. These were organised like local fetes and carnivals under names like 'Salute the Soldier Week' or 'Spitfire Week'.
From a collection of 45 posters from World War Two (1939-1945).
