'The Drum' was an adventure film produced in Technicolor by Alexander Korda and directed by Zoltan Korda, after the book by Alfred Edward Woodley Mason (who also wrote 'The Four Feathers'). The film was released in 1938 and starred Sabu, Raymond Massey, Valerie Hobson, Roger Livesey and David Tree. 'The Drum' was partly filmed on location on the North West Frontier, notably at Chitral, and featured real Indian Army units including Gurkhas and the Gordon Highlanders. The film showed the use of pack mules, mountain artillery, machine guns and mule mounted radio sets.
