Mark 7 helmet, 2009 (c)
In service since October 2009, the Mk7 has been issued to soldiers deployed to both Iraq (2003-2011) and Afghanistan (2001- ). It has the same protection as the Mk6A predecessor but is lighter and improves comfort when firing in the prone position. It allows soldiers to wear a respirator, ear defenders, goggles and a radio set simultaneously, and includes a new harness that keeps the helmet stable when night vision equipment is fitted.
