Desert combat boots, 2006

These boots are designed to be worn by dismounted troops conducting operations in desert environments where temperatures can exceed 40C. They have been used since 2006 during Operation TELIC in Iraq (2003-2011) and Operation HERRICK in Afghanistan (2001-2014). Service personnel are able to choose between boots manufactured by Lowa and Meindl. Smaller footwear is available with sizes and shapes specifically designed for women's feet.
