Mark 7 helmet, 2009
The Mark 7 helmet had the same protection as its Mark 6A predecessor but was lighter and improved comfort when firing in the prone position. It allowed soldiers to wear a respirator, ear defenders, goggles and a radio set simultaneously, and included a new harness that kept the helmet stable when night vision equipment was fitted. It was worn by British soldiers in Iraq (2003-2011) and Afghanistan (2001-2014).
