Demolished bridge, Arnhem, 1945
Photograph by Frank Tomlinson, 74th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1945.
Defensive trenches can be seen to the left, facing the river next to the famous bridge at Arnhem, which was demolished in October 1944, a month after Operation MARKET GARDEN. This photo was probably taken following Arnhem's subsequent liberation in April 1945.
From a photograph album compiled by Frank Tomlinson, 74th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, North West Europe, 1944-1946.
