General Purpose Machine Gun mounted on a Challenger 2 tank in Iraq, 2009
Digital photograph by Corporal Adrian Harlen, Royal Logistic Corps, 2009.
A Challenger 2 tank of 'A' Squadron, The Queen's Royal Hussars (The Queen's Own and Royal Irish), testing weapons on the firing ranges just outside the Contingency Operating Base (COB), Basra, during Operation BROCKDALE, the British withdrawal from Iraq. The Remote Weapons Station (RWS) mounted on the tank turret allows the crew to fire the General Purpose Machine Gun without exposing themselves to enemy fire.
